Angry Birds is an App that is available for iOS, Android, Mac OS X, Windows, and Chrome devices. The application was first released on December 10, 2009 on the Apple iOS App Store.
In the game, the player uses slingshots and birds to defeat the evil Pigs in various structures. As the game progresses, the player has the ability to obtain new Birds, Golden Eggs, etc.
Due of the simplicity and addicting gameplay; Angry Birds has boasted about 250 million downloads on all platforms as of today.
Gameplay[]
The gameplay of Angry Birds is relatively easy for a beginner. The concept of the game is to retrieve eggs stolen from the evil Pigs by the means of launching various Birds onto the Pigs' structures.
As you progress throughout the game, you meet new challenges, such as Armor Pigs, concrete shields and more sophisticated structures. Also, its not just the Pigs getting all the good stuff, you get it too! Such as Explosive Crates, and better Birds. Some of the new birds include: Blue Birds, which are able to separate into three Blue Birds when the screen is tapped, Yellow Birds, which could speed up when the screen is tapped, Black Birds which explode a few seconds after impact, or explodes when the screen is tapped, Green Birds which go turn backwards when the screen is tapped, White Birds which drop an egg when the screen is tapped, or the Big Brother birds which have such large destruction on impact.
Larger Pigs, especially Armor Pigs can sometimes take more damage than smaller pigs. The armor pigs for example take about two direct hits in order to be destroyed. While smaller pigs can be destroyed instantly with one hit.
When completing a level, the payer gets an amount of stars (1,2 or 3) by how much points he had in the game and how many birds he used - using less birds means more points.
Development[]
Early in the year 2009, the team at Rovio Mobile started to ponder for a new game idea. An employee, Jaakko Iisalo, showed a screenshot in mind for the game that displayed leg-less, angry looking birds. The team liked the idea, and soon adopted the idea. The team knew the Birds needed an enemy. Back in 2009, there was an on going Swine Flu epidemic, and the team decided to use Pigs as the main antagonists.
